"Doc" Bailey of
Renegade Light Sport Aircraft was at Sun and Fun 2013. He
had just completed the move from Missouri to his new 71,000
ft.² facility in Fort Pierce, Florida. The new facilities
are tailor-made for what "Doc" needs to run his very active
light sport aircraft company.
Currently "Doc" manufacturers. The Renegade Falcon, a low
wing, side-by-side seating, two-seat, all composite light
sport aircraft, which is available in both a tricycle and
taildragger. He also handles the SCO7 Speed Cruiser from
B.O.T. aircraft, plus distributes the D motor as well as
doing installations of the Lycoming aircraft engine on light
sport aircraft.
But Doc has a passion for aerobatic aircraft. Over the past
several years he has been working on a Lycoming engine
installation into the FK 12 Comet so that it could be used
to do aerobatics. This year at Sun and Fun Doc had his
latest entry into the light sport aircraft market the Lil
Rascal on display. The Lil Rascal is going to be available
in both a single and two-seat version.
The Lil Rascal series of light sport aircraft feature a 4130
welded chromoly steel fuselage, spring steel landing gear
and are biplanes with 4 ailerons. The wings and many parts
of the fuselage are going to be made from carbon to add
strength and cut down on weight.
The single place version of the Lil Rascal the S1 is
expected to come in at 650 pounds, while the 2 place version
the S2 will be in the 750 pound range. Both aircraft will be
powered by the Lycoming 0233, light sport aircraft engine.
